This is the announcing script used by Buonavista college for the annual sports meet 2024, you may use this for your sporting event using necessary changes.
Opening
Pathum: Good and energetic afternoon to all of you. Another landmark day for our proud Buonavistians. After a long pause, due to the unhealthy conditions of the country, here we are all set to blow the whistle of culmination, the ceremony of sports - the annual sports meet 2024. Today, we gather here not just to witness the power of our athletes but to celebrate the indomitable spirit of sportsmanship and brotherhood. So, take a long heave, stay with us until the sun descend from the Western sky, enjoying the sportsmanship of Bounavistians.
Bringing the school flag by the scouts
Akeshi: Stage is set for another grandeur. The school cadets are to ascend the podium of flags with the flag of the school on their shoulders. Fac bona Fi Boni, the motto inscribed under the emblem of our school, remembering the core value of our being. Yes, the beauty of truth and freedom which is indeed the spirit of sports. Now, the school flag is being carried to the post of flags amid of the proud roar of music - marking the inauguration of a wonderful ceremony of sports.
Hoisting the flags
Sanali: Before we mark the start the festivities, let's take a moment to honor our nation and the school as we hoist the flags high, symbolizing unity, pride, and sportsmanship.
Arrival of the goddess Athena
Akeshi: You are going to witness the arrival of the goddess Athena with her fellow goddess. Athena, the daughter of Zeus is one of the twelve Olympians and the Greek goddess of wisdom and strategy. Following the long practiced tradition of sports, she will bring the torch of fire to kindle the fire – symbolizing wisdom, power and unity as well as, marking the start of the ceremony.
Lighting the Olympic lamp
Saheli: As the flames of the Sports Meet torch are ignited, let it symbolize the burning passion and determination of our athletes. And now, let us all stand together as our athletes take the oath, pledging to compete with integrity and respect.
Opening the Sports Meet:
Pathum: With the torch lit and the oath taken, it is now my pleasure to invite (Name and the post of the Chief guest)……………………………………………………..,

The sporting Events:
Akeshi: The stage is all set to kick start our track events. The relay races are always a crowd favorite, and here we have the Under 12, 14, 16,18 and 20 teams gearing up for the 4 X 50 and 4X100 Relays! It's all about teamwork and seamless baton exchanges as these athletes give it their all. The anticipation is palpable as they approach the final stretch. Who will cross the finish line first and claim victory for their team? Let's find out!
Under 12 boys -50X4 m race
Pathum: (call to the race) – On the field it is due to start the race under 12 boys 50X4 relay. Competitors please proceed to the starting point. (This is your first call, final call -add accordingly)
Saheli: On the field it is all set to
start under 12 boys 50X4 meters relay.
(continue like that for all the events – use following phrases randomly)
- next event/ Another exciting event – under 14 Girls 100X4m is going to be started on the ground.

Sports commentaries (optional)
4 X 400 Meter Relay (example – because other races are short, Sinhala commentary will be enough)
(Start of the Relay) The athletes take their positions for the grueling 4 X 400 meter relay. It's a test of endurance and strategy as they pace themselves for the long haul ahead.
(Midway through the Relay) As the baton is passed from runner to runner, the race unfolds with each team vying for supremacy. The gap between the leaders narrows as the competition heats up.
(Approaching the Final Leg) With the final stretch looming, the tension mounts. The anchor runners dig deep, summoning every ounce of strength for the decisive lap that lies ahead.
(Crossing the Finish Line) In a crescendo of effort, the anchor runners surge towards the finish line, their legs pumping with determination. And as they break the tape, the crowd erupts into thunderous applause, celebrating the triumph of teamwork and perseverance. Let’s cheer the winning team!
200m Race
Akeshi: (call to the race) – On the field it is due to start the race under 12 boys 50X4 relay. Competitors please proceed to the starting point. (This is your first call, final call -add accordingly)
Pathum: The track event on the field to be started now is under 18 girls 200-meter final.

Drill Display – Primary Section
Saheli: Take a moment to catch your breath as we prepare for more thrilling action soon. Meanwhile, refreshments for our eyes are available. Let us call the little Buonavistian flowers to bloom on the grass field. Our little brothers and sisters from grade 3 and 4 are ready to please your eyes with a wonderful drill display.
Relay from the invited schools
Akeshi: We're thrilled to welcome our guests from (Name of the Invited School……………………………………….) for the Invitation School Relay! This friendly competition fosters brothrhood and mutual respect among schools. Let's show our support and encouragement as these athletes give it their all in the spirit of sportsmanship!

Selecting the pleasant house
Saheli: Building a house in a sports meet is a wonderful memory which last forever in the life of a school child. A panel of judges is ready to evaluate the houses made by our North, South, East and West houses.
Old Pupils’ race
Pathum: Old Pupils’ are the wealth of our Buonavistian mother. They give strength and examples for the present pupils to follow. Here they are ready to show their athleticism and vigor on the field. It is time for old pupils’ 100X4 relay.
Prefects race
Akeshi: Prefects are the front runners of the school. They lead by examples, now the students from the prefects’ body are ready to start the 100X4 relay on the field.
Karate Show
Saheli: Buonavista college has allocated a huge space for extracurricular activities. It is time to showcase the strength, power and coordination. Let us welcome the students from grade 06 to demonstrate a wonderful karate show on the field.
Support Staff Race
Pathum: Now, it's time for our support staff to take center stage! In the Support Staff Race, age is just a number as they showcase their athleticism and enthusiasm. Let's cheer them on as they race towards the finish line, proving that sportsmanship knows no bounds!
Staff Race
Akeshi: Our dedicated teachers are not just mentors in the classroom but also champions on the track! In the Staff Race, they demonstrate their competitive spirit and lead by example. Let's give a round of applause to our teachers as they inspire us with their passion for sports!
Parents’ race
Saheli: children follow the footsteps of the parents. Once an athlete, forever carries the sporting spirit in their life. It is the time for the parents’ race on the field. First, our mothers of buonavistian children are ready to set the tone. It is time for mothers’ 200m race.
Pathum: It is time to start the fathers’ 200m race on the tracks. Let us pour a roar of applause for the athleticism our fathers show on the field.
Drill Display by grade 7 and 8
Akeshi: As our athletes catch their breath, let's turn our attention to the dazzling Drill Display! Precision, coordination, and teamwork are on full display as our students showcase their skills with flawless execution. Let's give a round of applause to these talented performers!
March Past
Saheli: We have witnessed a wonderful display of athleticism, sportsmanship and entertainment. It is officially the end of the sporting events of the sports meet. Now, the ground is ready for a moment of grace, coordination and honor. It is time for band display and the march past.
Akeshi: The school has been temporarily divided into four houses called North, South, East and West. Now all of them are going to combine together, yet separately in parades.
Saheli: Precision, organization and follow commands process on the ground. The squad leaders are determined to organize their squads in line. All are ready to step up according to the beat of the band.
Akeshi: The squads are ready; the platoon leader is ready to take over the march. It is indeed a remarkable moment in any sports meet. let us wish all the houses to do their best.
Awarding Championships
Pathum: It's time to recognize and reward the hard work and dedication of our athletes! Let's celebrate their achievements as they receive their well-deserved medals and trophies from our Chief Guest and dignitaries.
